Connecting Through The Crisis

2020

Connecting Through The Crisis is a 2 month documentary project which is a visual documentation of the positive moments of the first coronavirus lockdown in the UK. I noticed that many people seemed to focus on the negative effects of the lockdown, without taking time to notice some of the moments that should be celebrated. This project was shot in and around my family home and village in Lincolnshire. A proof copy of the book is available to view from the link below.

These Four Walls

2020

These Four Walls was shot 5 months after shooting Connecting Through The Crisis during the coronavirus pandemic, when myself and my family had to self isolate for 10 days after contracting COVID-19. This body of work follows on from my previous work in an opposing manner, which acts as a visual photo diary of our time in isolation with the monotony of each day. A proof copy of the book is available to view from the link below.

The C Word

2021 (Ongoing)

On 15th May 2021, my Mother got diagnosed with  stage 2, grade 3 breast cancer at age 51. Luckily she caught this at a stage where it was able to be treated early with surgery and radiotherapy, however this news was a huge life change and something that herself and the family had to adapt to. This project follows my Mother's breast cancer journey including the ups and the downs from diagnosis to remission.

Home is where you park it

(Ongoing Project)

This series is a collection of images representing 'van life'. This is all about embracing and appreciating your surroundings, having a sense of adventure, and making your home wherever you park it.

Kilimanjaro/ East Africa

2019

I documented this body of work on a trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. I wanted to capture the strength of the people in the community and empower them through my photography whilst I had the opportunity. This documentary photo series then inspired me to research and write my Dissertation on ‘the photojournalistic representation of famine and everyday life in Africa from 1980 to the present day’, showing how we have slowly transitioned from pity to positivity in western media. The 21st century has brought a positive shift in the way in which we see Africa’s countries and communities being represented and hopefully this body of work can contribute towards that, where we are able to see and celebrate beauty and strength in different cultures.

Take A Breath

2021

Take a Breath is a documentary series focusing on cold water swimmers and the benefits of cold water immersion. The series shows that there are no particular requirements you need to have to be classed as a 'cold water swimmer', it is simply just mind over matter regardless of age or physique. This photo series also has a documentary video to accompany it, including interviews from ten cold water swimmers around the UK.

Field Sports: Ben's Last Shoot

This project documented field sports in the county of Lincolnshire. These photographs were taken for former Game Keeper, Ben, who wanted to document his final season.

Yellow On The Streets

(Ongoing Project)

I started this documentary street project in 2018, documenting people wearing the colour yellow out on the street. I took my inspiration for this project from the Dutch photographer, Hans Eijkelboom and his work People of the Twenty-First Century where he looks for similarities in people on the street.
